PottySurfing Privacy Policy

PottySurfing helps users find and submit restroom listings. This Privacy Policy explains what information the PottySurfing website and mobile app collect, how that information is used, and what choices users have.

Information We Collect

PottySurfing does not require users to create an account.

The app and website may collect the following information:

Location Information

When you use the Find feature, PottySurfing uses your device location to search for nearby restroom listings.

Your location is used to return nearby results. PottySurfing does not use your location to track you across apps or websites.

Approximate location search requests may appear in normal server logs for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.

Nearby Safe Haven Alerts and Background Location

If you choose to enable Nearby Safe Haven Alerts in the mobile app, PottySurfing may use your device location while the app is in the background so it can determine when you are near a Safe Haven restroom and send a local notification. This feature is optional and can be turned off in PottySurfing at any time.

PottySurfing uses background location for this proximity-alert feature; it is not used to build a travel history, track you for advertising, or sell information about your movements. Your alert settings and monitoring status are shown in the app so you can see whether the feature is enabled and active.

Submitted Restroom Information

When you submit a restroom listing, PottySurfing may collect and store information such as:

• Place name
• Address
• Latitude and longitude of the place
• Safe Haven, Mediocre, or Avoid classification
• Access type
• Rating
• User-submitted comment

Submissions may be reviewed before they appear publicly.

Technical Information

PottySurfing may collect basic technical information automatically, such as:

• IP address or hashed IP address
• Browser or app request information
• Date and time of requests
• Error and diagnostic information

This information is used for security, troubleshooting, spam prevention, and maintaining the service.

How We Use Information

PottySurfing uses collected information to:

• Show nearby restroom listings
• Allow users to submit new restroom listings
• Review and moderate submissions
• Prevent spam, abuse, and fraudulent submissions
• Maintain and improve the app and website
• Troubleshoot technical problems

Third-Party Services

PottySurfing uses Google services for place search, address autocomplete, place details, geocoding, maps, and directions.

When you search for a place, submit a listing, or open directions, information such as search text, approximate location, place identifiers, or destination coordinates may be processed by Google services.

Your use of Google services is also subject to Google’s privacy practices.

Public Content

Restroom listings, ratings, classifications, and comments submitted to PottySurfing may become publicly visible after review.

Do not submit private personal information in restroom comments.

Advertising and Tracking

PottySurfing does not currently display third-party advertising.

PottySurfing does not sell personal information.

PottySurfing does not track users across apps or websites for advertising purposes.

Data Retention

PottySurfing keeps submitted restroom listings for as long as they are useful to the service.

Technical logs may be kept for a limited period for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.

Pending or inappropriate submissions may be deleted.

Children’s Privacy

PottySurfing is not intended to collect personal information from children. Users should not submit personal information in restroom comments or listings.

Your Choices

You can disable location access in your device settings. If location access is disabled, PottySurfing may not be able to automatically find nearby restroom listings.

You may contact PottySurfing to request review or removal of submitted content.
